Handheld HP iPAQ rx3715 Mobile Media Companion

HP iPAQ rx3715 resembles HP iPAQ rz1710 but it is only in external looks, it has an amazing new story inside – real value for your money. Unlike the other model in comparison it comes with fully packed with all accessories including basic case, Li-Ion battery , earplug type stereo headphones, USB cradle, Stylus, AC adapter for direct charging, bonus software applications in two CDs, user guide.

Handheld HP iPAQ rx3715 Moble Media Companion is supported by Microsoft’s Mobile software. This is a complete pocket PC. You want to enjoy music it is there; you want to capture and treasure special moments you can; you like to have your live memories you have video capabilities. If you are a light hearted person who enjoys gaming take on to your iPAQ.

It has interesting and attractive shape for its cradle with great stability. You don’t have to buy your power source as Handheld HP iPAQ rx3715 Moble Media Companion comes with the pack. The leather case too looks elegant with extra soft padding that protects the device. The device carefully avoids rubber parts that wear off with use. Compact stylus with better hold is made of tough plastic.

We have to admit the headphones that come with the device are not really the best that you can find in the market.

It has a large display looks classy with the dark color of the body. The buttons are user-definable and is made of plastic to save them from wearing. The unit also has a joypad. Each button can be customized for two actions each short press and a long press.

It has a total memory of 56.66MB and final usable space of 42 MB after the space consumed by device applications. It also has an additional storage space of 96 MB for file storage.

Though large, the display does not impress us greatly. The display is transflexive TFT with 65 thousand colors. It spoils its image with the pink shade on the left and green shade on the right. Except for black all the other colors suffer. Analysis says that it is the backlight that affects the display too badly. What is consoling is the backlight can be adjusted to 10 different levels to suit the battery levels. The display is not any good in bright sunlight like any other TFT display.

It has great audio capabilities and hence can be legitimately called – Mobile Media Companion. It has three level treble-bass adjustor to enjoy your audio. You only got to get a better earphones to enjoy the audio. Try connecting to your iPAQ to your hi-fi if you have one, you will be amused with the results. But don’t try the built in speaker you will curse yourself for the investment you made on this iPAQ. It has a sensitive microphone though.

It uses Widcomm’s Bluetooth feature and a fast wirless module of 802.11lb wi-fi version. If you are some one who stays out for long hours you can go for optional double capacity battery even otherwise you can easily take count on its eight hours battery time while using backlight.

It is user friendly!

Too much of concentration on the weight and dimensions of the phone has taken its toll on the features of the device. It is just a very basic model with no blue tooth capabilities. You wish it had a camera.

The phone comes with all the basic accessories and since it has limited features you may not have to look for other accessories to enjoy the full potential of your slimmest phone in the world. Nokia N91

While N90 concentrated too much on the video capabilities of the phone, Nokia N91 has invested in its audio capabilities making it an ideal music companion.

Nokia N91 comes with an amazing 4 GB built-in hard drive. Like other N series phones Nokia N91 too comes with a 2 megapixel camera. It is basically a music phone. Copying music to your N91 can be as easy as drag and drop – your PC will recognize your phone via USB cable and there is nothing to stop you from copying your favorite music easy and quick. The sound quality is really something with CD quality output.

If you are thinking of buying an ipod and a camera phone, then you have got N91. With its 4 GB inbuilt hard drive it will be your ipod phone. You can store up to 3000 songs. Easy to download and manage music. You can enjoy music up to 12.5 hours. It comes with stereo headset with remote control!!!! With Bluetooth and wi-fi you can share your music with other supported phones in close proximity.

Being a music phone it is designed for great music experience. Special keys are assigned for volume control and playback functions. Justifying its features, it has 8 band equalizer, Dynamic Range Compression, mixer, stereo balance and stereo widening. You will be able to listen to music and still attend calls – auto pause feature enables you to attend calls quickly and your music will resume once the call ends. Music functionalities are kept independent of the SIM – even without the SIM card you can enjoy the music.

You will be able to download all your favorite music via air. More so, it supports most music formats – AAC, WMA and MP3. It is just not the listening phone but you can as well record music through any stereo input or your own voice recording.

Besides the dedicated 4 GB microdrive for music and video applications there is also 30 MB of space reserved for your contacts and calendar.

It has email client, full web browser and video sharing capabilities. Bluetooth and GPRS go without mentioning for this smartphone.

The display too is reasonably good – 208 x 176 pixels, TFT with 256 k colors. Picture quality is astonishing, it uses Carl Seiz lens.

It has a talk time of 4 hours and a standby time of 190 hours. Though these are the claimed hours as usual there will be a sag in the battery hours which normally users complain about.

The silver casing though gives it a tough look is difficult to be kept clean. The battery sucks with the wi-fi. For some reason ergonomics has not been Nokia’s strong point. This is evident in N91 too. The # key and 0 key are too close to the sliding phone making it difficult for the fingers. You might as well overlook these flaws if only the pricing is little friendly to the wallet. It is priced around $800!!! You might as well get a Laptop for this price.

Nokia N90

Nokia N90 is a revolutionary model that outsmarts all fellow models. It has a long list of features that are exclusive to itself. There is some serious thinking that has gone behind the designing of this model. N90 has worked on Nokia 6260 problems and successfully overcome too. Nokia N90 is certainly feature packed but in this endeavor it has loses on several other essential factors.

It has dared to separate the camera module from the conventional designs. It has a 2 megapixel camera (1600 x 1200 pixels) with auto-focus and 20x digital zoom.

It has high screen resolution and great video quality. The positioning of the speakers allows it to be louder than other models. It also comes with integrated hands-free speaker.

You can have more than one phone number and email address stored per entry – so you don’t have to have too many entries for the same contact which sometime confuses you. You can also have thumbnail pictures for the entries.

You can make your multimedia message interesting with video and audio clips. You can as well take it to the next step and have multi-slide presentation.

Nokia N90 has advanced camera fetures – it makes you think more than a phone it is more of a camera. It allows you to shoot with six different scene settings. It is bulky enough to incorporate a flash that can cover up to 1.5 m. It has automatic flash modes and anti red-eye feature.

Nokia N90’s XpressPrint allows transfer of photos directly to printers that support or kiosk through Bluetooth technology, Multimedia Card and also through PictBridge-compliant printer using USB cable.

Nokia N90 uses Standard Li-Ion Battery 760 mAh that allows talk time up to a maximum of 3 hours and a standby time of up to 12 days. But this only seems to be a claim by the company – in day today usage you will find it is lot lesser than what is specified.

You can have online storage space for your contacts including passwords. It also comes with Personal Information Manager that allows you to manage your calendar, to-do list and contact list. It has a huge memory internal dynamic memory of up to 27MB and an expandable memory of 64 MB which is optional.

It has extremely poor ergonomics and heavy. Single handed messaging is very difficult if not impossible. You are forced to use both the hands while using the camera. Though N90 blows its trumpet as a multimedia phone it has forgotten to include usual headphone jack input. In spite of being extremely expensive, you have to spend extra on earphones. Moreover the audio quality has nothing to boast and you can do very little about it. Moreover the operations are painfully slow. One of the reasons for this could be because all the operations are running in the background by default. You have to manually exit unnecessary operations. With its slow user interface if you want to capture anything using the camera you have to anticipate it at least by 5 seconds. It is feature packed but not user friendly.
